Purpose

To provide opportunities to employees for developing functional / leadership competencies for current and future roles and build specialization in key skills by selecting through evaluation process and sponsoring them for relevant courses such as MS / M.Tech / MBA/ PH.D etc.

Applicability

For selection for Post-graduation courses (MS / M.Tech / MBA):
  • The employees are nominated for Career Development workshop (CDW) held once in a year for engineers based on following criteria:
    • Graduate Engineers who have completed minimum 2 years of service in the company as on cut-off date
    • Diploma Engineers who have completed minimum 2 years of service in the company as on cut-off date and have completed their BS/BE/B.Tech /AMIE / IIIE (from AICTE approved institutions) and submitted their certificate to HRD as on cut-off date
    • Age not more than 30 years as on cut-off date
    • Cut-off date is 31st March of the respective financial year
  • Post CDW the employees are evaluated by a panel and are selected as per criteria in table 1.1

  • Based on employees’ career aspirations, evaluation on above criteria, panel recommends for appropriate development action such as sponsorship to inland / overseas education, on the job exposure, projects, job rotations and short-term courses
  • Employees who are selected for continual education may have to qualify for eligibility of respective courses such as approved qualification, interview, entrance test if any, IELTS, VISA etc
  • Employees, who are finally selected for the course, furnish the bond agreement for a value of course expenses and salary paid during course duration for a period of 3 years for inland, 5 years for overseas.
  • Any expense incurred for fulfilling the requirement of course such as VISA, IELTS, application fee, travel etc will be reimbursed by the company
  • During the course, entire course fee, hostel and mess expenses, project related travel, are sponsored by the company along with Salary. Any additional expenses other than aforementioned will be borne by the employee
  • Annual compensation review will be extended equivalent to default rating (Met Expectations), during the course and promotion / upgradation would be as per the existing promotion guidelines
  • Post completion of the course, employees submits the course completion certification along with marksheets to HR for up dation of their record.
  • If employee is less than PGE / MBA campus equivalent, he will be placed as per existing campus policy
  • Post return, employees are placed to a higher role than previous for effectively utilizing the acquired knowledge during higher studies, provided vacancy is available

For selection for doctoral / post doctoral course

  • Some Employees who wish to pursue their doctoral / post-doctoral courses need to submit the statement of purpose and how course will help in specialization in particular area. iIt will be evaluated by panel for consideration of sponsorship and it would be individual employee responsibility to get admission in recognized institutes.

For selection for graduation engineering course

  • Every year Diploma engineers are selected for sponsorship to B.Tech Lateral entry. The selection guidelines will be published by HRD on a yearly basis.

FAQs

Purpose of career development workshop is to identify career aspirations and align relevant development opportunities. In case, individual is not selected for full time continual education, on the job exposure, job rotation, various leadership / managerial development programs, short – term courses are the other opportunities available
Individual has to meet the necessary criteria for selection. In case criteria is known, individual will be communicated beforehand and other opportunities would be considered for his development
Like qualification, tenure, age is additional criteria to be eligible for selection for evaluation in CDW for building pipeline for higher roles and it would not be possible to accommodate Further, these guidelines have been formed keeping the criteria of selection of institutes for continual education, hence it would not be possible to deviate from the guideline

As selection to the course is through evaluation by panel and only few amongst employees considered for CDW are sponsored, it would not be pertinent to discontinue. As you have signed the agreement before start of course, you need to reimburse the entire course fee and salary for duration, you were pursuing the course.
As you are sponsored by the organization and you will be on roll, any research / patent during the coursework would be as IPR guidelines of the organization.
As you are sponsored by the organization, expenses incurred for fulfilment of the course requirement will be borne by the company. Please refer to the guidelines.
Promotion to the next role and grade will be as per promotion guidelines and is not only dependent on qualification
Placement to role post return is dependent on vacancy, criteria for the role, change of context in the role, if any. You are requested to report to HR before joining department for review of placement to the role
